In 1995 Russia ranked second in exporting of armament and military equipment. Among the most steady importers of Russian military products are: Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Greece, China, India.

Russia has comparatively humble experience of holding international exhibitions of armaments. Therefore the unique event was the First exhibition of conversion products, aerospace and land military equipment and armament. That was the first event of this kind in the Western part of Russia though the considerable part of the Russian military-industrial complex is situated here.
T80 The exhibition was supported by such federal institutions as the Russian State Committee of Military and Technical Policy, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Defense Industries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ROSVORUZHENIE State Company. The latter exports the major part of Russian armament. The coordinator was the SIBERIAN AGREEMENT Inter-regional Association. The organizers were the Omsk Oblast Administration and InterSib International Exhibition Center.

More than 100 enterprises from 20 regions of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan demonstrated their products. 74 samples of military equipment and 386 samples of conversion products were exhibited.

As evaluated by specialists of ROSVORUZHENIE Company and military attaches of a number of countries some demonstrating facilities are better in Omsk than at IDEX (Abu Dhabi). The Omsk exhibition attracted more than 150 foreign experts and attaches from 44 countries (Algeria, Angola, Bulgaria, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Guinea, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, China, Cyprus, Korea, Cuba, Laos, Libya, Malaysia, Mozambique, Mongolia, Nigeria, Nicaragua, Panama, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Romania, Syria, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, Ethiopia).

There are good reasons for choosing Omsk as the place of this exhibition. Omsk ranked fifth by volumes of industrial output in the former Soviet Union. The military industry comprises one third of its industrial potential. Today Omsk companies offer products with good reputation: rockets of light class, a number of civil and special satellites, engines for widely-known MIG-29, SU-24 military airplanes, AN-74 civil multi-purpose planes, modern tank T-80U, means of special communications of the latest generation. Siberian defense companies are open for international cooperation. The attention of attendees of the international exhibition was attracted by tank T-80U produced by PO "Transport Machine Building Plant" (Omsk). In the latest design shown in 1996 taken into consideration are results of tests in deserts, highlands, in severe conditions of Russian West. This tank accumulates many achievements of technical progress at the turn of the millennium: laser-guided missiles, phenomenal hit accuracy, high rapidity of fire, practically noiseless engines. automatic systems of protection against missiles, radiation and against chemical weapons.


Omsk is situated at the crossing of busiest transport ways. Omsk has one of the most modern and fuel-reliable airports. Omsk is an important hub of Trans-Siberian railway. There are well developed automobile roads in the Oblast. Omsk is situated at the is Irtysh, one of the largest Siberian rivers with orifice to the Northern Sea Way.
Siberian region is a business-favorable area for foreign capital. Siberia is known for its traditional political and socio-economic stability, constructive relations between executive and legislative authorities, balanced relations with Moscow, mutual estimation with other regions, attractive investment climate.
